You’re a little tipsy. You’d be the first to admit it. You’re not even surprised about it. You’ve always been something of a lightweight. The room dips slightly in your field of vision as the door swings shut behind you and you survey the apartment. It’s not that late, so it isn’t a surprise to see Alex stretched out on the couch with a book, but with the alcohol humming pleasantly in your veins, seeing your boyfriend basically waiting up for you is reason enough for the delighted laugh bubbling up in your chest. Kicking off your shoes quickly and and tossing your bag carelessly to the side you pad across the room with slightly wobbly steps, completely ignoring the book he has open in his lap as you flop down on top of him, nuzzling your head against the crook of his neck. 

“Missed you,” you mumble happily as Alex chuckles, marking his page and placing the book to the side before wrapping his arms around your shoulders, rubbing idle circles over your back. 

“You saw me like three hours ago, baby,” he reminds you, audibly amused and you shrug dismissively as you tuck your head under his chin, settling closer to his side. 

“Yeah but that’s like, ages,” you protest, a little drowsily. Your hand is stroking absentmindedly across his chest, tracing the letters on his sweatshirt. “You’re really soft,” you say quietly and you can feel Alex’s quiet laughter vibrate through his chest.

“You’re really cute when you’re drunk,” he remarks, his voice low and fond. His soft smile expands into a chuckle as you try and fail to stifle a yawn and his hand comes up to gently trace along your cheekbone. Leaning in to press a kiss to your temple he murmurs “I really love holding you, beautiful. You’re warm. And you fit nicely in my arms.”

You let out a soft noise of contentment as you press a soft kiss to his collarbone and you can feel him smile against your forehead as you mumble a sleepy “Love you, Alex,” against the crook of his neck.
